Effective April 1, 2013, I assumed the positions of President
and Chief Executive Officer of Komatsu Ltd. On behalf of the Komatsu
Group, I want to extend our sincere appreciation all our stakeholders
for your support and interest in us.
While we see some brightening
signs in our business environment, we are continuing to face uncertain
conditions. However, I believe our core businesses of construction
equipment and industrial machinery embody potential growth momentum. To
effectively work in such an environment, we have been developing a new
mid-range management plan with goals set for the fiscal year ending
March 2016. We are going to announce it on April 25. We are continuing
to make all-out effort, designed to strengthen our corporate muscle, in
order to drive further growth.
We believe that our corporate value
is the total sum of trust given to us by society and all our
stakeholders. In this light, while further improving our business
results, we are continuously committed to adhering to our business
basics, such as safety, environmental preservation, compliance and
quality assurance.
