J&D Rigging Takes on its Second Sany Crawler Crane
By Cameron Boggs on 2 February 2010
J&D Rigging has taken on its second Sany crane from James Equipment, an 80t SCC800C crawler crane which was immediately pressed into service through Structural Cranes in Newcastle.
James Equipment says the Sany SCC800C features a Cummins 8.3L diesel engine, Robway lifting gear and Kawasaki hydraulics, all of which are easy to source within the Australian market. The crane can hoist up to 80t and the boom length varies from 13 to 58m..
Structural Cranes says a major feature of the Sany SCC800C is the quick knock down and set up time, with the unit up and running in 24 hours. Unlike similar Cranes in this class and larger crawlers, the SCC800Cs tracks do not have to be removed for transportation.
According to James Equipment, the Sany SCC800C crawler crane has moved to the Burwood Beach coastal location to assist in a major upgrade to the Wastewater Treatment Plant by Hunter Water. It was first contracted to assist with Rigging works in a Newcastle coal mine.
On the Burwood Beach site, the Sany SCC800C is said to have been used to lift reinforcing rods and form work. Later in the five month contract, it will place shutters into the walls of the treatment ponds.
