Caterpillar launches MD6250 blast hole drill

 Caterpillar has launched the MD6250 blast hole drill designed for drilling 10m and 12m benches in mining, quarrying and heavy construction applications, as well as for angle drilling from 0° to 30° for cast blasting.

The MD6250 drill is application-built and automatically operates within ideal operating parameters for maximum bit life, hole accuracy, and reduced total cost of ownership.

The machine delivers superior performance in both down-the-hole hard rock and rotary soft rock applications and drills to diameters from 150mm to 250mm with bit loads of 22.3t and 32.7t, for the 11.2m and 13.7m masts, respectively.

The 11.2-m mast is capable of drilling multi-pass depths reaching 53.6m, while the 13.7m mast drills multi-pass depths of up to 37.9m.

A sculpted frame design meanwhile boasts heavy cross-bracing in high-load areas for maximum machine longevity, while the box section provides optimum structural rigidity.

The machine’s four levelling jacks, mast pivot and deck are all welded integrally to the main frame for maximum durability and long life.

The MD6250 is powered by the Cat C27 ACERT engine with a 655 kW power rating at 1800 rpm that can be configured to meet any emissions regulation for any region throughout the world.

Variable air volume settings reduce the engine load by up to 50% for significantly increased fuel efficiency, while engine and air intake filters boast 500-hour service intervals for lower long-term operating costs.

The unit has an approach angle of 15° for easy ramp access and loading, while the machine is capable of climbing grades of up to 26° to get to the bench.

A true global machine, it is EU compliant, GOST certifiable, AUS compliant, CSA certified, MDG15 and MDG41 aligned, meets emissions standards for any region, and meets over 30 ISO standards.
