Case Construction Equipment is celebrating its 175th anniversary since its historical founder Jerome Increase Case (J.I. Case) established Racine Threshing Machine Works in 1842 in Wisconsin, USA.
As with many other companies, the story is one of ingenuity, practicality and entrepreneurship, with Case pioneering equipment and technologies from the early days of steam-powered machines.
J.I. Case was the first American to introduce the portable steam engine in America in 1869, and this introduction subsequently led to the birth of road construction and, in 1957, the launch of the industry’s first factory-integrated tractor loader backhoe.
These are just two of Case’s pioneering developments that have changed the construction world, and the company endeavours to keep the same entrepreneurial spirit alive in its teams around the world.
The company evolved into the Case Corporation, which merged with New Holland in 1999 to become CNH Global, which is now the fifteenth largest manufacturer of construction equipment globally.
Further milestones punctuate Case’s history: the 500,000th backhoe loader rolled of its production line in 2005, and it has also celebrated almost sixty years of wheel loader excellence, and close to five decades of skid steer loader development.
J.I. Case is said to have believed in going the extra mile for the customer, and the company’s heritage of innovation has been closely intertwined with a passion for serving the customer by helping them to address their technical challenges.
This belief continues today in Case’s ‘360-degree approach’ of supporting its construction equipment businesses with not just products and services, but teams that have the ability to build long-lasting relationships with its customers.
