Terex unveils three-axle Demag all-terrain cranes

Terex Cranes has introduced two three-axle Demag all-terrain cranes, the AC55-3 and AC60-3, with 55-tonne and 60-tonne lifting capacity ratings, respectively, and aimed at high productivity and low operating costs.

The cranes have an automated counterweight rigging system for easy and fast setup, a one-engine concept for streamlines operation and maintenance and the IC-1 Plus control system, for calculating the crane’s maximum allowable lifting capacity based on the slewing angle and configuration.

These innovations help make the Demag three-axle cranes a one-man operation, while an optional remote control can give the operator the ability to safely and easily rig and operate the crane from a distance.

Demag AC 55-3 and AC 60-3 all-terrain cranes also have a 50m single cylinder telescoping main boom, the longest of any 3-axle all terrain crane, while the AC 60-3 model can be fitted with a 16m extension to make it the longest system in its class.

The cranes’ outriggers can be positioned independently from each other for efficient positioning, taking advantage of the IC-1 Plus system’s ability to calculate the maximum allowable lifting capacity based on the crane’s configuration.

The three-sheave VarioHook system, and powerful hoist, with 60kN or just over six tonnes of line pull, contribute to help shorten rigging time, reduce the weight of equipment transported and saving time on site.

At only 2.55m wide, the same as a standard truck and the ability to stay within 12-tonne axle weight restrictions, Demag three-axle cranes provide fast and efficient transportation between job sites.

The Demag AC 55-3 crane can also be configured to meet 10-tonne axle weight restrictions when necessary.

There is also an optional all-wheel drive feature available for demanding jobsite environments.

According to Terex, the Demag AC 55-3 and AC 60-3 all-terrain cranes will perform well in a wide range of applications including, general lifting, inside building lifts and equipment loading and unloading, as well as performing auxiliary crane work.

Terex Cranes also recently upgraded its Demag AC500-8 all-terrain crane to enhance the machine’s technical characteristics and add Terex’s IC-1 Plus capacity calculating control system.

In other crane news, Manitowoc also recently delivered its first all-terrain crane, a Grove GMK4100L-1, equipped with the Samson K-100 synthetic rope, which is currently undergoing field tests with CCC to determine its suitability in the Middle East.
