World's First Dry Powder Mortar Batching Plant for HSR Construction in Service

Recently, the world's first dry powder mortar batching plant specially for high-speed railway (HSR) construction, developed and manufactured by the mixer machinery division of Sany Heavy Industry, is exhibiting sound performance on the construction site of Harbin-Dalian railway.

Dry powder mortar is a type of material for grouting HSR slabs. It is tested and verified that slabbed ballastless tracks grouted with dry powder mortar feature high stability, high durability, even rigidity, and infrequent maintenance. The dry powder mortar dedicated for HSR construction, however, is a type of special material that assumes extremely high requirement on precision of the patching plant. Currently, most powder mortar batching plants in China are not capable of producing mortar dedicated for HSR construction. As a result, the dry powder mortar is almost entirely imported and expensive. Against this background, the mixer machinery division of Sany Heavy Industry, in cooperation with China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group, has started to develop and manufacture the dry powder mortar batching plant dedicated for HSR construction since February 2009.

During the phase of research and development of the plant, the integration institute for the dry powder station of the mixer machinery division of Sany Heavy Industry has beaten enormous challenges in technology and in particular has solved the world's most difficult problem of accurately measuring dry powder mixing. The mixture ratio of microelements in dry powder mortar is the key to the quality of the dry powder. If an ordinary electronic scale is used to measure the content of microelements in dry powder at a dry powder station, the accuracy of the measuring can not meet the requirement. After reaping studies and experiments, the integration institutes thrashed out an agravic batcher that ensures accurate measuring and reduces the manual workload to a great extend. Another problem with the finished dry powder is how to readily transport the powder from the dry powder station to the construction site and how to prevent segregation of the powder during the transportation. To solve this problem, an advanced"one ton per bag" packing technique is introduced to the mixer at the dry powder station, which enables easy transportation and storage of the finished dry powder and prevents segregation of the powder during the transportation. In addition, the batching plant is environmentally friendly because of its high efficiency in de-dusting.

Since starting to develop and manufacture the dry powder mortar batching plant dedicated for HSR construction, two such plants have been sold. The year 2020 will see new passenger HSRs of a total length greater than 120,000 kilometers in China according to China's mid-and-long term plan for railways. Customers are extremely optimistic about the prospect of Sany dry powder mortar batching plant dedicated for HSR construction.
