John Deere introduces the heavy lifting, tight turning 244K and 324K Compact Wheel Loaders. Both machines are loaded with features to increase productivity, visibility, versatility, and lower daily operating costs for the landscape, ag material handing, and construction industries. "The 244K and 324K are multifaceted machines that combine outstanding maneuverability, travel speed, breakout force, reach and stability to tackle tasks other machines can't," said Doug Laufenberg, product marketing manager for compact wheel loaders, John Deere Construction & Forestry. "Customers asked and John Deere responded with tight turning, standard shift on fly two speed, and higher hydraulic flow increase for attachments on these new models."
The 244K (48kW) and 324K (52 kW) are equipped with a Final Tier 4 diesel engine with a two-speed transmission. With top speeds of 19 mph and 17 mph respectively, the 244K and 324K can swiftly navigate the jobsite. Low- and high-speed ranges provide infinitely variable travel speeds from standstill to best-in-class standard speed.
The oscillating stereo steering is the foundation of the compact K-Series models, delivering a smooth turning radius that is up to 20 percent tighter than comparable loaders. This feature ensures faster cycle times and better material retention over rough terrain. The 244K and 324K offer higher tipping load capacities than their J-Series predecessors and the hydrostatic drivetrain's infinitely variable range allows the operator to precisely match travel speed. The wheel loaders' 100 percent front differential lock is easily activated through a pushbutton on the joystick. In addition, manual low-speed differential lock delivers the traction needed to go deeper into the pile for bigger bucket loads.
The K-Series cabs are comfortably equipped and offer unobstructed views of attachments and the surrounding work area. To enhance operation, the boom, bucket, and forward-neutral-reverse switch are on the same ergonomic, low-effort lever for convenient one-hand control. Other productivity-boosting features include tilt steering, multi-adjustable suspension seat, electronic monitor, and convex mirrors. (Source: Construction and Maintenance)
