Atlas Copco opens a new plant in China

Atlas Copco has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in China. The new factory will produce high-efficiency compressors and generators, meeting what the company called a growing demand for industrial equipment throughout Asia.

The new plant in Wuxi, Jiangsu province China, will manufacture small and medium-sized industrial air compressors and portable diesel and electric-driven compressors and generators.

“This top-modern production facility will be key to our effort to expand our presence in China and across Asia,” said Stephan Kuhn, business area president of Atlas Copco Compressor Technique. “The Asian market has vast growth potential, and this plant helps us ensure we are close to our many customers in the region.”

The investment for the plant, which includes a test lab and an R&D center, amounts to approximately $26 million. The facility is expected to employ about 280 people. Including the Wuxi plant, Atlas Copco now operates 16 manufacturing facilities and 236 offices in China and has approximately 5700 employees in the country.
