Chairman Liang Wengen Invited to China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue

At noon of May 10, 2011 (local time), government leaders of China and the United States held a session with business leaders from both countries in Blair House in Washington DC, the United States. The session was part of the third round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue (S&ED). Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan, Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and US Finance Minister Timothy Geithner met with 12 business leaders from the two countries. Mr. Liang Wengen, Chairman of Sany Heavy Industry, was the only person from China’s engineering machinery industry to address the session.

“Products made in China are not the same as what they are normally portrayed in the US media – poor in quality and low in cost. Instead, ‘Made in China’ has begun to command the respect of the world,” Mr. Liang said.

“You may know that in rescue operations in the copper mine accident in Chile in 2010 and efforts to curb the nuclear crisis in Japan this year, equipment produced by a Chinese company played a significant role. They are a 400t crawler crane and a 62m truck-mounted concrete pump manufactured by my company -- Sany Heavy Industry,” Mr. Liang commented.

“Facts have proven that Sany’s products are reliable. I hope that US customers can be reassured about the quality of products made in China.” The chairman also stressed that the price of Sany’s products are actually not cheap. In the construction machinery market in China, Sany’s products have a reputation for high quality and high price, and have a very good reputation. So far, the business volume of Sany Heavy Industry’s concrete pumping machinery is the largest in the world.

Government officials and entrepreneurs from the two countries who were present at the meeting warmly applauded the chairman’s speech and the competitiveness of Chinese companies like Sany.

Blair House, where the meeting was held, is located just opposite the White House. It is where the President of the United States receives foreign heads of states and dignitaries and the second best known landmark in Washington DC, the best known being the White House.

The China-US strategic and economic dialogue was established in 2009 and serves as a framework for the United States and the People's Republic of China to mutually discuss topics related to economic relations between both countries. Over the past two years, China and the US have held two rounds of talks successfully and fruitfully.
