China’s Shacman to start heavy truck business in Brazil

Chinese truck manufacturer Shacman has announced, during the opening of its first sales operation in Cuiabá city, Brazil, that the company is also building a truck manufacturing facility in Brazil. The construction has begun in Tatuí, São Paulo state and the exterior of the facility has been completed.

 
Shacman trucks will be sold in 4x2 and 6x4 chassis with configurations for mining, construction, forestry and agricultural (sugarcane) applications. The trucks adapted for the Brazilian market currently utilize Cummins ISM 11 diesel engines rated 287 and 313 kW (385 and 420 hp), Fast Group transmissions, HB axles and MAN cabs.
 
Production’s capacity is expected to reach 500 trucks in the first year, the company said. Sales of Shacman trucks began in January. The company’s goal is to achieve 2% market share within two years. (Source: Diesel Progress Online)
