SANY's Super-length-boom Technology Awarded National Technology Invention Prize

Having already been awarded the National Technology Progress Prize twice in 2005 and 2010 respectively, SANY again won a big prize. On January 18th, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. At the conference, “technology and application of the super-length-boom concrete pump truck” helped SANY Heavy Industry win the second prize of the National Technology Invention Award 2012.

The National Science and Technology Award-giving Conference, held once a year, has been regarded as the highest honor in the field of science and technology in China. The prize that SANY won at the conference has been the highest honor in the construction machinery industry. SANY also becomes the only company that won the highest national prizes for three times in the construction machinery industry.

The concrete machinery technology experts said that the prize indicates that SANY has made great achievements in the field of super-length-boom technology: First, the boom length of pump truck has reached the top level in the industry. Second, its super-length-boom technology has held a leading place in the industry.

Dong Li, SANY’s R&D engineer who had participated in the application for the prize, said that every technology of SANY is the product of innovation. Take the super-length-boom technology for example. “We have transited from traditional iso-stress to equal lifetime in design; we have applied multistage pre-warning system to prevent tilting; we have found ways to deal with the changes in flexibility and shape caused by the boom length, etc.”

Dong Li said that SANY has 4 technology inventions in terms of super-length-boom, which are the super-length-boom design and device, the automatic vibration suppression technology, the anti-tilting control technology based on gravity center tracking and the multi-parameter matching and energy-saving technology of super-length-boom pump truck. These 4 inventions, all developed by SANY, have been awarded 24 authorized invention patents (including 2 American patents, 2 German patents and 1 Russian patent). Two more patents, the boom vibration suppression technology and device for concrete pump truck and the energy-saving control method for concrete pump, won the China Patent Gold Award, the only awarded patents in China’s construction machinery industry.

In 2011, SANY Heavy Industry’s long-boom pump truck had drawn the world’s attention: Its 62m pump truck saved the day in the Fukushima Nuclear Crisis in Japan and succeeded in helping cooling down the nuclear reactor, an act widely praised. The 86m pump truck from SANY Heavy Industry in 2012 is the longest-boom pump truck that can perform onsite operation in the world.
