Terex releases new backhoe loader

Terex launched TLB840 backhoe loader in North America. The product is powered by an electronic, IT4 Perkins 1204E-E44TA engine and an optional four-speed servo power synchro transmission with automatic shifting.Customers will notice the TLB840 boasts high torque, powerful performance, as well as strong climbing and digging capabilities. 

 

The IT4-compliant engine on the TLB840 is designed with EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) technology, which is well-suited for lower horsepower engines operating in high-duty applications. EGR engines incorporate diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) systems and sometimes diesel particulate filters (DPF) to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) and particulate matter exhaust emissions. The Perkins Stage III B/IT4 EGR engines, like the one in the Terex TLB840, include a DPF and allow auto-idle to be incorporated in machine. 

 

“The Perkins DPF has a 10,000-hour service life, so maintenance needs are reduced,” says Jon Beckley, Terex global product manager for backhoe loaders. “This backhoe loader does not require Diesel Exhaust Fluid, also known as AdBlue, or forced regeneration. Also, we have had a long heritage of strong global support with Perkins.” 

 

Also according to Beckley, “The IT4 TLB840 offers 14.6 to 36.9 ft-lb higher torque through the rev range than the previous model. This means it is more responsive on pick-up under load and handling while transporting materials.”
