At an altitude of over 2500 m above sea level, the 65 K and 71 K fast-erecting cranes tackled a quite extraordinary job: a new lift station and restaurant at the top of the cable railway to Germany highest peak, the “Zugspitze”, had to be completed in time for the start of the 2012/13 skiing season. The deadline pressure and extreme conditions necessitated absolute reliability. The two cranes were dismantled into easy handling units for transporting on the Zugspitze railway and then erected again at the new lift station.
The 65 K, which will also be on show at the Bauma 2013, is the embodiment of the latest generation of Liebherr fast-erecting cranes. The successful 71 K was the first fast-erecting crane in the world to have a PLC controller when it was launched in 1998 and therefore provides an important technology base for the new generation of fast-erecting cranes.
With a maximum lifting capacity of 1,400 kg with a radius of 40.0 m,
the 65 K delivers the best performance in its size class. It hoists all
loads in pure SPEED2LIFT 2-rope operation. No luffing and no time lost
mean maximum load handling capacity on the site. With a maximum lifting
capacity of 4,500 kg, the 65 K delivers truly outstanding performance.
