Air pollution was a hot topic among the deputies to the NPC and CPPCC this year, showing increasing public attention to environmental protection. Affected by policies, due to abundant technical reserves, several energy-conserving and environment-friendly engines of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (Yuchai), including gas engines and National IV and V diesel engines, have seen the first market fever in recent years. Even the two energy-conserving engines for passenger vehicles about to be launched by Jining Yuchai Engine Co., Ltd. (Jining Yuchai) have been highly favored by customers.

Energy-conserving & environment-friendly engines mass-manufactured

The nation has switched the emission standards for gas engines and diesel engines this year, posing a challenge to many engine manufacturers. In the first two months, Yuchai have made substantial achievements in gas engines, National IV and V diesel engines and hybrid engines, achieving record production and sales of gas engines and National IV diesel engines in the same period.

Affected by national policies, Yuchai's hybrid engines and National V diesel engines have been favored by customers, too. Particularly, Yuchai's hybrid engines used 120kW motors in 2012 to enhance energy conservation effect, thus getting a higher subsidy and enjoying greater popularity among customers.

Yuchai's sales increase is attributable to technical reserves over the years. According to Zhong Yuwei, deputy general manager of Yuchai, the mounting pressure on energy conservation and environmental protection has impelled Yuchai to intensify green power R & D to meet the demands of the nation and the public for energy conservation and environmental protection. Plug-in hybrid engines considered as mainstream new energy engines have made great progress and are about to be launched. Last year, Yuchai also began to manufacture AMT gearbox. Yuchai's new-generation hybrid system combining "engine, motor, control system, AMT and battery" has basically formed.

In recent years, widely-favored Yuchai gas engines have been upgraded in terms of technology and quality. Also, Yuchai has increased the maximum warranty mileage to 300,000 kilometers in 24 months.

The advantages in technology and policy have boosted the sales of Yuchai's energy-conserving and environment-friendly engines.

Diesel-oriented plan for passenger vehicles expected to be released during NPC & CPPCC

In Jining, Shandong Province, the staff of Jining Yuchai has been busier than ever before since the beginning of this year. Two passenger vehicle engines will be manufactured in the company. Compared to gasoline engines with the same displacement, they are more environment-friendly and fuel-conserving. Mass use of them is expected to enormously reduce energy conservation in China.

Now, the workers of Jining Yuchai are making final preparations for production. Huang Jiezhi of the Purchase Department has been organizing suppliers' information these days. Despite the strong support from the headquarters, they had to follow up a lot of concrete affairs. Zeng Guisheng of the Quality Department faced more complex situation. They had to tighten quality control before production.

Being busy is good news for everyone. Soon, the efforts of Jining Yuchai's staff will pay off. Yuchai's passenger vehicle engines are about to go into mass production and have been popular with domestic and overseas manufacturers. Many key manufactures have come to the plant of Jining Yuchai for inquiries, However, as passenger vehicles powered by diesel engines are far from being popularized, products manufactured this year will primarily be sold abroad.

They expect the nation to release a diesel-oriented plan for passenger vehicles during the NPC and CPPCC to promote energy conservation, emission reduction and push forward the Chinese cause of passenger vehicles.
