Zoomlion piston mortar pumps and screw mortar pumps recently went on display in Nanchong, in China's Sichuan province. The pumps are the first ones capable of vertically transporting concrete to a height of 81 meters, and they have proved the reliability of mortar transported to such a height.
In recent years Nanchong has worked tirelessly to develop dry-mixed mortar, and in just two years the city has built eight local dry-mixed mortar production lines. Nevertheless, mortar is still largely transported by hand. To cater to the local market, Zoomlion introduced its first set of mechanized mortar construction equipment to Nanchong, which accepted the challenge of trying to transport mortar to greater heights. The company then carried out regional adaptive testing determined to lay a foundation for the mechanization of mortar transportation.
A commercial housing construction site in Nanchong was chosen as the location to test the Zoomlion piston mortar pump and screw mortar pump. The commercial housing unit was 25 stories tall, which required approximately 10 meters of horizontal delivery piping and 81 meters of vertical piping. At the job site, the Zoomlion piston mortar pump easily delivered the mortar to a height of 81 meters, and almost no difference was found in the quality of the mortar before and after it was transported. Moreover, the greatest system pressure during construction amounted to only 70% of the machine's rated pressure, which proves that the piston pump is capable of taking on even taller buildings.
