Zoomlion Truck Crane Used in Chinese Antarctic Expedition

On February 27, Zoomlion Mobile Crane Company's QY25V truck crane accompanied China's 30th Antarctic Expedition team to Antarctica, where it was used to unload supplies at Zhongshan Antarctic Station's Panda Dock.

The climate of Antarctica is bitterly cold, windy, and dry, with an annual average temperature of -25°C and a lowest recorded temperature of -89.8°C, making it the coldest place on earth. It is also the windiest region in the world. Panda Dock was built during the 24th Antarctic Expedition and is located on Yuanyang Island, which is surrounded on three sides by the sea, close to Zhongshan Antarctic Station. The dock was named after the Chinese action plan for the Fourth International Polar Year — Project Panda.

In this harsh polar environment, the Zoomlion crane helped the Antarctic expedition by smoothly unloading supplies at Panda Dock. This amply demonstrated the Zoomlion QY25V truck crane's product performance and superiority under Antarctic conditions.

The Zoomlion QY25V truck crane is a new-generation, high-performance product independently developed by combining many years' experience with advanced technology. Its performance parameters, including lifting height, boom length, work speed, and lifting capacity, all meet domestic and international advanced levels. The crane has a full-circle swing, telescopic luffing jib, and U-shaped jib, making it suited to handling precision instruments for the Antarctic research station.

The QY25V has a three-axle dedicated chassis, Euro 4 emissions, a broad field of vision, and simple yet generous decoration. The product uses the latest load feedback hydraulic proportional directional valve and quadruple gear-pump system with safety devices including an overflow valve, balance valve, hydraulic lock, and brake valve equipped to prevent oilway overload and prevent accidents due to pipe fractures. This makes it suitable for a variety of road conditions and a fearless performer in the rugged polar environment.

The truck crane has a powerful configuration beyond the engine itself, with level-three desert-grade air filters, a level-three fuel filtration system, and exclusive Weichai-patented heated fuel-filter technology, all of which greatly extend the life of the engine. In the polar environment, the advantages and capabilities of the QY25V truck crane were brought to the fore.

It is reported that a Zoomlion QY16C truck crane has been used in Antarctica since as early as 1997, and that it has been "stationed" in the "world's Pole of Cold" for more than a decade now, where it has withstood the tests of the harsh frozen climate. The QY25V, which was taken on this expedition, upholds the exceptional quality of Zoomlion's truck cranes, has similarly weathered the polar climate and environment, and has completed the various tasks asked of it to the customer's complete satisfaction.
