Liebherr-Aerospace Engages in "Clean Sky 2" Program

At ILA Berlin Airshow, Liebherr-Aerospace has signed a letter of intent together with 13 other leading aerospace companies and research partners to cooperate on the "Clean Sky 2" program.

For this extension of the already existing European technology initiative "Clean Sky" the participating companies and research partners plan to invest 1.8 bn EUR over seven years together with the European Commission will jointly invest a total of 3.6 bn EUR.

"Clean Sky 2" will set the course towards the targets of “Flightpath 2050” and the new ACARE (Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe) Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda. These include the reduction of air transport CO2 emissions per passenger kilometer by as much as 75 % by 2050.

Together with Thales, Liebherr-Aerospace leads one of six technology fields of the already ongoing project "Clean Sky". It encompasses the development, the construction and the testing of solutions designed to reduce and control the energy consumption of on-board systems as well as to optimize the flight course of aircraft. Liebherr intends to continue this successful partnership also in the "Clean Sky 2" program.
