Sany Concrete Machinery Enter Japanese Market--Stationary Concrete Pump Help Build No.1 Building in Osaka

Ranking as the tallest building in Osaka, Abeno Center’s construction has been regarded as an important project among Japanese media. The construction company for the this project chose a Sany stationary concrete pump for the concrete pouring phase. On August 23rd, after a final check up, all the structural parts and hydraulic components were well prepared for operation. The pouring operation went onsmoothly and Sany pump’s steady performance received positive comments from Construction Company and Japanese media. This is a historical moment indicate that Sany concrete machinery finally entered Japanese construction equipment market.

Abeno Center, Osaka

As the second largest construction machinery manufacturing country, Japan produces first rate heavy machine and boasts top level research and development professionals. Therefore entering the Japanese market is never an easy task. The earlier attempts of Germany and Korean companies all ended up in failure. Sany knew that only the best products can win the trust of the strict Japanese market. It took its time and focused on technology innovation. Finally, Sany stationary concrete pump was chosen to join the construction of Osaka’s tallest building—Abeno Center. It was widely regarded as a historical breakthrough for Sany. According to industry experts, there would be more Sany products including truck mounted concrete pump, excavator, and crawler crane participating in the construction projects in Japan.

Humanitarian Effort Won Respect

The 300m and 65 stories Abeno Center combined with a full range of functions including shopping, entertainment, business and art, ranking as the tallest building and a landmark of Osaka. Knowing the importance of the project, the construction company had really strict requirement in order to choose the right machines. In December 2010, Sany Japan branch sales representative YANG Binglong received news that Abeno construction project required several concrete pumps for its concrete pouring phase. He set off for Asaka immediately and started negotiation with the project manager. The negotiation was not smooth at the beginning. At the time, only one Sany excavator was sold in Japan. And because the engine of the excavator was made in Japan, the machine could not be used in Japan. The client had to resell it to a construction company from Taiwan. YANG knew well that Japanese clients usually do not trust heavy machinery brands from other countries and Sany almost had no record in Japanese market. It was natural that the customer had doubt over Sany’s concrete pump.

However, nobody would know that on March 11th 2011, a magnitude 9 earthquake hit Fukushima, Japan. On March 17th, YANG appeared at the negotiation room on time in spite of the danger of earthquake. YANG’s credibility won himself the trust from the project manager. At the most urgent time of Fukushima nuclear crisis, Sany donated its 62m truck mounted concrete pump to support the water spraying operation in the stricken nuclear plant. Sany's humanitarian effort also won the respect from international community. The representatives of Abeno construction project was surprised by Sany concrete pump’s steady performance and both parties reached agreement on cooperation.

On May, 2011, delegates from the construction company visited Sany headquarter and a construction site in Shanghai and witnessed Sany concrete pumps working performance. After the trip, the construction company bought two units of Sany stationary concrete pump.

Technology Innovation Ensures Successful Operation

According to the representatives of the project, at first they planned to use a German-made concrete pump truck, so they even bought a delivery pipe of this brand.

In order to match the German pipe with Sany stationary concrete pump, Sany service engineers redesigned the discharge outlet. Another difficulty was about a 30m slope on the construction site. The stationary concrete pump had to drive the slope to get to the construction site. Therefore Sany engineers designed a tool that connected the pump and the forklift, and offered special individual training to the operators, making sure that the pump moves to the desired operating position.

August, 23rd, after a close check up, all the electronic components and hydraulic parts were in good status. The first operation was carried out for pumping 150m3 of C30 concrete (slump: 23cm) at horizontal pumping distance of 34m and vertical distance of 102m. The client highly regarded Sany concrete pump’s performance and Sany engineers’ service quality.
