Zoomlion's Initiated Posture-variable Boom Swivel ABC Technology

To satisfy the "more stable, efficient and safer" placing needs from clients, the Boom ABC Project Team of Zoomlion Concrete Machinery Branch Company, under the guidance of leaders and technical experts at all levels, has recently developed the posture-variable boom swivel ABC technology after many years' concentrated R&D, which has reached the advanced level in the industry upon authoritative inspection by the National Building and Urban Construction Machinery Quality Supervision and Inspection Center.

With the application of new materials and other light-weight technologies, the boom length limits of truck-mounted concrete pump have been broken continuously. Currently, the longest boom of truck-mounted concrete pump has been 101 m. However, the longer boom increases its flexibility, and meantime, more joints make its posture more complicated, and huge rotational inertia in the swivel operation is prone to cause horizontal swing of the boom and end hose. This may not only affect the positional accuracy and construction efficiency of boom swivel, but also shorten the service life of truck-mounted concrete pump structures. Zoomlion has creatively put forward and realized the posture-variable boom swivel ABC technology, which can accurately identify in real time the slewing vibration characteristics of the posture-variable boom, enable the horizontal vibration amplitude and damping time of the boom and end hose to decrease by 60% or more and the alternating stress at key position of the boom to damp for at least 30% through the exertion of active damping control force to the boom via an actuating gear, thereby improving greatly the stability of boom operation, placing efficiency and construction safety. So far, the technology has completed its substantial industrial assessment on 49 m and 52 m long boom truck-mounted concrete pumps, and is highly praised by the experiencing clients. Zoomlion fully owns the proprietary intellectual property rights of the posture-variable boom swivel ABC technology. Until now, it has won two national patents for invention, and more international patents and national patents for invention are open to the public.

As a new member of the posture-variable boom ABC family, the boom swivel active body control (SABC) technology will, together with the boom PABC launched in an earlier stage, effectively solve the space vibration problem of the swing arm of truck-mounted concrete pump and the end hose in the pumping process, bringing an unprecedented experience of stable boom operation to clients. What's more, characterized by good universality and strong portability, the technology may, after minor improvement, be easily transplanted to tower cranes, hoists and other engineering machinery of similar flexible boom structures, with extensive industrial promotion value.
