Terex Cranes launched the first unit of its new 650 tonne Superlift 3800 crawler crane, customized with a 153 metre main boom and a 12 metre light fixed jib in combination with a Vario-superlift system with counterweight tray for a client in Germany. The 650-tonne capacity Superlift 3800 lattice boom crawler crane conforms to ASME B30.5.The Superlift 3800 comes with the fixing attachments of Terex’s fall protection system already on the boom sections. Additionally, a protective railing has been installed around the superstructure. The new cabin design provides a larger viewing area and available side outriggers equipped with hydraulic cylinders and pressure sensors allow the operator to monitor ground pressure when mounting or dismounting long main boom lengths.
Capacities have been improved about 20 percent overall in comparison to the predecessor CC2800-1.The light extension can now lift loads up to 178 tonnes. The Superlift 3800 can be delivered with an integrated wind kit in a universal main boom system: the crane can erect wind turbines of 117m without using the available Superlift boom configuration. An assist crane is not required to help erect the main boom.Despite considerably higher rigidity, Terex reduced the weight of the basic machine by 17 tonnes, improving the crane’s transportability.
Moreover, the measurements and the weight of components have been
designed for ease of transport, including additional hoisting points on
components, including central hoisting points and hydraulic motors
positioned within the track frame reducing transport size and preventing
them from being damaged during transportation. The Superlift 3800 is
the first crawler crane to feature Terex’s new cabin design, developed
with extensive feedback gathered from customer workshops, leading
industrial stylists and experts in ergonomics.
