Manitowoc unveiled the 2.5 tonne Potain MCi 48 C tower crane at the bC India exhibition in Mumbai last week.
The new crane has a maximum jib length of 36 metres and a maximum under hook height of just under 35 metres. The MCi 48 can lift 1,000kg at its jib tip. The tower crane, which is built at its factory in Pune, is aimed at multi-storey buildings between eight and 15 floors and fills a gap in the current product line between Potain’s self-erecting cranes and its MCi 85 top-slewing crane.
The company also showed the locally assembled eight tonne Potain MC 175 B tower crane which can handle 1.4 tonnes at its maximum radius of 60 metres. Finally Mumbai based crane rental company Shri Dinesh Cranes took delivery of its second 300 tonne Grove GMK6300 All Terrain crane on the Manitowoc stand.
Raman Joshi, managing director of Manitowoc Cranes India, said: “India continues to move in the right direction, and although 2012 was a little slower we’re optimistic 2013 will show some growth. We’re still expecting new infrastructure and energy projects to come on-line and to build these ambitious new developments contractors will need to use the latest lifting technology. The GMK6300 and MCi 48 C are two good examples of how modern cranes can help contractors complete projects faster and more efficiently.”
Manitowoc has announced a new four axle Grove All Terrain crane, the 90 tonne GMK4090, an upgrade to the current GMK4080-1/GMK4100B which has been in production since 2006. The new GMK4090 features
