Liebherr releases its latest generation of diesel engines at bauma

On Stand No. 115 in Hall A4, Liebherr is exhibiting for the first time its latest generation of diesel engines, which comply with the Stage IV / Tier 4f emission standards.

The new exhaust emission control system is an important element in the new-generation engines. Liebherr is relying entirely on the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) principle. The catalytic converter, a new design, and the other components in the system – injectors, air and AdBlue pumps, together achieve a reduction of approximately 98 % in emissions of oxides of nitrogen (NOx).

To ensure that the forthcoming emission and fuel consumption targets are achieved, Liebherr has optimised every aspect of the combustion process in order to reduce the soot particles to a minimum already within the engine. A decisive contribution to coordination of the various parameters is made by Liebherr’s own common-rail fuel injection, including the engine management control system also developed in-house. Liebherr currently supplies eleven different basic engines in the 130 kW to 750 kW power range. Not only the 4- and 6-cylinder inline engines but also those with a V8 and V12 configuration comply with the exhaust emission limits that come into force in 2014.
