On March 18th, SANY Heavy Industry held a product release in Chengdu in Southwest China for their latest product the C8 pump truck. The C8 is the first-generation product since SANY’s purchase of Putzmeister. It has adopted advanced technologies, superior manufacturing techniques and high-quality service from both two companies. According to reports, the C8 would also come into market in other cities of China at the same time.
The C8 Stands Out in the Competition New Technology Leads the Industry
On the on-site operation show, a competition began between the C8 and other pump trucks. It turned out that the C8 was much more superior to other pump trucks in such fields as pouring precision, pumping stability, pumping efficiency, automatic operation and energy saving.
It’s introduced that the C8 has adopted a new technology – one-key-location technology. No matter how violently the boom vibrates when it moves, it can be stopped the vibrating effectively by pressing the key so that the machine can perform pumping precisely.
Moreover, the C8 series has also been the first one to adopt automatic boom vibration reduction technology, which helps to cut down 50% of the vibration during the pumping process. The pumping stability and efficiency have also been highly improved. Moreover, the new automatic fault diagnosis technology of the C8 can help to resolve about 200 faults and shorten 70% of the time for eliminating malfunction.
In addition, with the new energy saving technology, the C8 has achieved a 25% increase in pumping efficiency and a 10% reduction in fuel consumption.
“The C8 has adopted advanced technologies, superior manufacturing techniques and high-quality service from both SANY and Putzmeister. I’m really impressed by it.” After watching the C8’s on-site operation, a customer Mr. Li said.
Customer-Oriented Development Model of Cooperation Project Between SANY and Putzmeister
The C8 pump truck is the first product developed together by SANY and Putzmeister. Karl Schlecht, the founder of Putzmeister, has high expectation on this product. He also sent his congratulations to SANY for the C8’s going to market through a video shot in Germany.
In May, 2012, the company started the R&D work of the C8. At first, the R&D staffs of both SANY and Putzmeister encountered many problems. It lies in that the working modes of the two companies are different: SANY stresses on “as fast as possible” while Putzmeister values more “step by step”.
“We just want to develop the product as soon as possible. But we haven’t considered that it may bring so much trouble to the technicians of Putzmeister,” said Yunhui Gu, a member of the C8 R&D team. He said SANY R&D team lacked the experience of international cooperation. So, it’s necessary and important for both sides to remove obstacles and strengthen the mutual trust when encountering problems.
“Then, we changed our working mode. On one hand, we listed our advantages so that the colleagues from Putzmeister could have a clear understanding of both SANY’s R&D level and our sincerity. On the other hand, we also made a specific list of what kind of technical support we need from Putzmeister and why we need that.”
This kind of specific and reasonable working mode acted as a bridge between SANY and Putzmeister R&D staffs. The cooperation between them became more and more efficient. From May to September, the R&D team has gradually developed the new technologies which later were applied to the C8.
“A good product may not have the best technology, but it must best meet the needs of the customers.” It was what the C8 R&D team said most in the interview.
The reporter was also told that, during the development process of the C8, the front-line staffs from marketing and service systems have also joined the whole process of product design, trial-production and testing. They provided their own advices to R&D staff. As they often contact with the customers, they must be very familiar with the needs of customers. Thus, their advices enable the R&D staff to develop C8 pump truck into a popular product among customers.
