200 DR 5/10 Litronic derrick crane disassembles luffing-jib crane from high-rise roof

A Liebherr 200 DR 5/10 Litronic derrick crane was used on the roof of the new Courtyard Marriot Hotel in Montreal, Canada. In very confined conditions, the derrick crane on the hotel roof ensured that the Liebherr 355 HC-L 12/24 Litronic luffing-jib crane was reliably and safely dismantled.

Using the IC tower system in the building, the 355 HC-L climbed to a maximum hook height of over 130 m. During the construction of the 42-storey hotel, it stood out with its performance and hook speed, particularly in single-cable operation.

At the end of the lifting work, the rigging team used the derrick crane to dismantle the 355 HC-L from the roof of the Courtyard Marriot Hotel within four days. The advantage of this over dismantling it from the ground was that it did not require any major roadblocks, which would have impaired the other construction work. Heavy components of the luffing-jib crane could be lowered safely and at a sufficient distance to the building, because the 200 DR has a variable reach of up to 25 m.

The 200 DR 5/10 Litronic derrick crane was also dismantled after taking apart the luffing-jib crane. Because they are so lightweight and compact, the crane components could be brought down in the goods lift.
