Liebherr-Transportation Systems has been awarded a contract to supply further HVAC units for Bombardier’s Class 430 Electrical Multiple Unit (EMU) suburban trains.
The contract comprises HVAC systems for 90 train sets of the future Rhein-Main suburban train fleet and for four train sets that are to be operated in the greater Stuttgart area. Deliveries are scheduled to start in late 2012 and be completed by midyear 2014.
The saloon HVAC units feature energy-saving heating components that utilize waste heat from traction. Thus the electrical power needed for heating can be reduced to a minimum.
Since 1999 Liebherr has delivered HVAC systems for more than 600 EMU trains of the types 422, 423 and 430.
