Norcross, GA- Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas Inc., recently made a donation to the Del Webb Middle School Varsity Orchestra of Henderson, Nevada, reinforcing the company’s commitment to investing in communities. This remarkably gifted group provided entertainment at Hyundai’s 2014 ConExpo exhibit held March 4-8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
“Here at Hyundai, we are not only fully committed to our customers but to our community as well,” states Sam Yoon, President of Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas, Inc. “We were honored to showcase the Del Webb Middle School Varsity Orchestra at our ConExpo booth and we hope our donation will allow these students to continue advancing their musical talents.”
The Del Webb Middle School Varsity Orchestra consists of 64 students ranging in age from 12 to 14 years old. Students in this orchestra have a minimum of 2 years of playing experience on violin, viola, cello or bass. Most recently, the Varsity Orchestra performed at the Clark County School District Middle School Orchestra Festival where they earned superior ratings (the highest rating possible) from 3 nationally acclaimed adjudicators.
“Performing at Hyundai’s ConExpo booth was a unique and exciting opportunity for our orchestra,” states Del Webb Middle School Varsity Orchestra Director, JaNae Taylor. “Students felt honored to be invited to represent the musical experiences that are offered in the schools here in Las Vegas. Music is something that is a vital part of the fabric of our community and it is our hope that it will continue to thrive because of the support of our friends at Hyundai.”
According to Taylor, Hyundai’s donation to the orchestra will be used to purchase music and instruments for the students to play as well as professional posture chairs that will help the students play with the correct posture.
