Yuchai's contiguous grid-connected generation project launched

On the morning of February 16, the launch ceremony for Yuchai's contiguous grid-connected generation project was held in front of the office building of Guangxi Yuchai Machinery Monopoly Development Co., Ltd. The project is intended to build PV grid-connected generation stations on roofs of plant buildings of relevant subsidiaries in the headquarters in Yulin, thereby effectively utilizing stable local solar energy. Approved in August 2011, the project is a national Golden Sun demonstration project with the largest single construction capacity among similar projects approved. 　

The launch marks a new firm step of Yuchai in the process of energy conservation and emission reduction, kicking off a battle to change its energy structure. 　

Among attendees were Liu Zifu, chairman of the CPPCC Yulin Municipal Committee; Xu Jianzhong, deputy mayor of Yulin; Lan Liping, head of the dispatched disciplinary inspection group of the Disciplinary Inspection Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in Guangxi Financial Department; Gu Tangsheng, president of Yuchai Group; Su Peng, vice president of Yuchai Group; Liang Qingyan, deputy general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) and Yan Jie, assistant to chairman of YM.

According to sources, with an expected total investment of RMB 365 million, including national subsidies of RMB 270 million, the project is scheduled to go into operation by June 30, 2012. With a total installed capacity of 30 megawatts and an average annual generating capacity of 31.1 million kilowatt-hours, the project adopts a plan of block generation and centralized grid connection, and uses a polycrystalline silicon fixed system consisting of three PV arrays and 125,001 240-kilowatt solar modules. Compared to coal-fired power plants with the same installed capacity, the project will save over 11,198 tons of standard coal every year, reducing emission of greenhouse gas carbon dioxide by some 29,339.7t, sulfur dioxide emission by 95t, nitric oxide emission by 82.87t and dust emission by 2,239.67t. 　

In an address, Liu said the project is a great move of Yulin to step up efforts to transform the mode of economic growth and build an eco-civilization demonstration city. In recent years, Yuchai has centered on the core concept of "Green Development & Harmony Win-win", accomplished green and harmonious development, and made remarkable contributions to Yulin's development. The project has fully shown Yuchai's development idea of seizing the preemptive opportunity in national new energy development and its model role in building an energy-conserving and environment-friendly enterprise. The project's development will play a positive role in coordinating urban and rural development, creating "six civilizations" and building a happy and harmonious Yulin. 　

Gu said, the project is a major move to promote applications of renewable energy in the building field and an inevitable choice of Yuchai on the road of "low-carbon economy", and will give effective play to Yuchai's overall production capacity, thus further quickening the pace towards a group with annual sales of RMB 100 billion in the "twelfth five-year" period and enhancing Yuchai's comprehensive competitiveness. 30MW PV power has not only provided Yuchai with all-day self-sufficient energy, but also explored a new road of energy conservation, emission reduction and scientific development for large-sized state-owned enterprises, and is valuable as a marker in the industry. At the same time, the project will effectively promote the development of Yulin's relevant industries and inject fresh vitality into the city's industrial economic development.

The project and other national new energy projects tally with the current trend of new energy, the project has also created a broad platform for the development of the constructor Guangxi Construction Engineering Group (GCEG), said Huang Dinglong, chairman of project contractor GCEG No. 2 Building & Installation Co., Ltd., adding they cherished the cooperation opportunity, pledging to complete the project efficiently to turn in a satisfactory answer sheet to Yuchai. 　

In the deafening sound of gun salutes and flying colored ribbons, Liu and Gu jointly unveiled the project.
