To follow the market trend that gas-powered buses have gradually become an integral part of diversified development of bus fuels in the country, and build professional gas engines to meet market demand. On August 12, Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) held 2012 Yuchai Gas Engine Customer Seminar in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, to make customers personally experience the outstanding performance of Yuchai's professional gas engines in close range, cement mutual exchanges and further perfect the quality and services of Yuchai gas engines.
Among attendees were deputy Secretary-General She Zhenqing and Council Member Yang Lihui of the Bus Branch of the China Highway & Transportation Society, Deputy General Manger Zhong Yuwei, Acting Deputy General Manager Wang Limin, Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Jiasha and Senior Technical Advisor to Chairman Zhuo Bin of YM, as well as delegates from 75 bus and passenger transport companies.

As a kind of clean quality energy, gas has developed in an unprecedented manner in China's efforts to improve the energy structure and boost low-carbon economic development. In recent years, China's gas buses have entered a fast-growing period. Whether in traditional gas-producing areas or in areas along the west-east gas transfer pipeline and coastal areas radiated by LNG terminals, gas bus development has shown unprecedented trend. For long, Yuchai has been committed to being the pioneer of China's green power, focused on developing and manufacturing green power that meets customer demands including gas engines and hybrid power, and gained extensive recognition from the market.
On strength of Yuchai's strong capacity for product R & D and its devotion to and passion for the engine cause, Yuchai has formed several technical and competitive advantages in the industry: First, early product R & D, Yuchai started to develop gas engines in 1995, supplied engines by batch in 1998, launched engines in large volume in 2000, used the richest market data and formed enclosed-loop support of experiment and R & D. Second, technical leadership, technologies of single-point injection and lean combustion have enormously optimized dynamism and fuel economy. Third, use of a large number of special parts including special fuel control system, special gas-distributing camshaft and special booster has boosted product stability in high-temperature combustion. Fourth, Yuchai holds a largest market share of 41.7 percent, ranking first in the industry. Good reputation and outstanding performance has led to the outstanding market performance of Yuchai gas engines, and Yuchai occupied the greater part of the LNG bus market in 2011.
In the address, She spoke highly of Yuchai's prominent achievements in the new energy power field. For long, to accomplish the environmental protection and energy conservation of the bus industry, Yuchai has taken the lead to develop National III, IV and V engines and launched them in large volume, and undertaken the "R & D of CNG engines specific to large buses", a project under Program 863. Green gas engines independently developed by Yuchai have been applied maturely, and Yuchai has made remarkable contributions to pushing forward the technical progress of the bus industry and improving the business quality of bus customers.

At the seminar, Zhong gave a keynote report entitled Specialization, Exclusivity--Way of Green Development and Win-win of Yuchai Gas Engines. In the report, Zhong introduced Yuchai's history, R & D team, technological innovation and bus market, and analyzed the prospect of Yuchai in the gas market. Zhuo elaborated on the technical characteristics and advantages of Yuchai National V gas engines. With theories and informative data, Zhuo introduced the good economy, dynamism, reliability, low noise, environmental friendliness and adaptability of Yuchai National V gas engines. Also, Zhuo introduced the parameters and product characteristics of engines including YC4DN, YC4GN and YC6K, and interpreted the technologies and planned spectrum of Yuchai National V engines.
Guiyang Public Traffic Company (GPTC) has kept ahead in gas bus popularization in the country, and has joined hands with Yuchai to create a domestic model in gas engine popularization for years. Liu Kaigui, deputy general manager of GPTC, introduced Guiyang's experience in gas popularization. As a customer representative of YM, Guiyang's public transport development has drawn support from Yuchai in terms of technology and services. Currently, GPTC has put into use over 1,500 LNG buses, of which over 90 percent carry Yuchai engines. They found Yuchai engines are more stable, energy-conserving and dynamic than similar engines. They pledge to continue supporting Yuchai's development to jointly promote the development of Guiyang's bus career.
At last, industrial expert Yang Lihui gave a keynote report entitled We Are Opening the NG Era of Buses, conducting an essential analysis of the bus market, introducing the actualities and future trends of gas development. The completion of preparations of rigid policies and gas sources predict the advent of the NG era of China. Aiming at the actualities of gas development, she said Yuchai's idea was clear in this respect and Yuchai that enjoys a safe lead in sales in the industry has been well prepared.
