YM's 30,000-unit engine remanufacturing project review meeting

Yuchai has persisted in the core concept of "Green Development & Harmony Win-win", actively responded to national call, implemented the scientific outlook on development, and started preparations for the engine remanufacturing project from late 2005. In May 2006, Yuchai established Engine Plant 3 for engine remanufacturing; in March 2008, upon approval by NDRC, Yuchai became one of the country's first group of pilot enterprises for auto parts remanufacturing, kicking off its pilot remanufacturing.

After three years' construction, the project has been completed and gone into production on schedule, almost all objectives have been achieved, and all indicators have met the requirements of the implementation plan and state regulations. In December 2011, Yuchai's 30,000-unit engine remanufacturing project passed evaluation and examination by the autonomous region, and was submitted to NDRC for review.

At the review meeting, the experts examined relevant data and listened to the project summary report given by Cai Dawei, deputy manager of Engine Plant 3. Subsequently, the expert panel headed to the remanufacturing site of the plant for a survey of the disassembling and sorting workshop, parts repair workshop, assembling and commissioning workshop and warehouse.

After listening to the report and examining relevant data, the expert agreed that the project team carefully organized the pilot work and fulfilled the pilot task according to relevant requirements. With an integrated process and complete equipment, the project completed product remanufacturing in collaboration with engine plants and matching plants, established a QA system for remanufactured products and passed certification; established channels of used part recovery and developed major technical means such as disassembling, cleaning and detection; and formulated corresponding regulations, standards and operation instructions. While approving project acceptance, the expert panel raised improvement requirements for the project.

In a concluding speech, Zhao said the State attaches great importance to the development of remanufacturing, which is an important part of the national development of strategic industries and the industry of energy conservation and environmental protection. NDRC will actively study relevant financial and industrial policies to further law and regulation revision and to promote the development of remanufacturing. He hoped Yuchai will enhance the project and master core competitive remanufacturing technologies to become a national leading remanufacturer.
