Another group of staff children receives Yan Ping Education Fund, Yuchai Scholarship

 "I became more and more nervous towards the beginning of the new term! Later, my farther told me a piece of good news: I was lucky enough to have got the Yuchai College Entrance Exam Scholarship for 2011, which can solve part of my tuition. At the news, I felt a sudden surge of warmth, excitement and joy, and made a resolution that I will always remember and appreciate Yuchai!" Chen Zhencheng enrolled by Guilin University of Technology this year, on behalf of all supported students, voiced his feeling at the presenting ceremony for Yan Ping Education Fund and Yuchai Scholarship. Chen, son of Chen Huisheng, a worker of Yuchai Jinchuang Automotive Parts Manufacturing Co, Ltd., comes from a poor family. After he was admitted by the university, the high tuition and living expenses of over RMB 7,000 has become a barrier to the university. However, getting Yuchai Scholarship has undoubtedly satisfied his pressing need.

The presenting ceremony for Yan Ping Education Fund and Yuchai Scholarship was held at Yuchai Culture Center on August 27. Liang Ping, chairman of the Labor Union of Yuchai Group, presided over the ceremony. Deputy Party Secretary Zhang Jiasha and Guo Deming presented scholarships to the aided students.

According to sources, a record total of 98 staff children were enrolled by universities this year, including 39 key universities and 59 ordinary ones. All the 98 students were rewarded by the group. Children of staff from subsidiaries outside Yulin such as Yuchai Nanning Special Vehicle Co., Ltd. and CSR Yuchai Sichuan Engine Co., Ltd. also received scholarships from Yuchai. 46 staff children at universities, high and primary schools got group scholarships, too. 

At the ceremony, Huang Yongsheng of Engine Plant 2, on behalf of parents of the aided students, undertook to live up to the group and Chairman Yan Ping's expectation, work hard on respective posts and teach children to study hard to repay the society and Yuchai with outstanding academic performance.  

Zhang, on behalf of Yuchai, extended heartfelt thanks to Yan and best wishes for the aided and rewarded children of staff, pledging the group will further advance the campaign of "education aid" to help more children of needy staff get out of trouble and get into the campus, to make positive contributions to building a harmonious Yuchai and dedicate outstanding achievements to the group's 60th anniversary. 

To help staff children complete studies smoothly, Yuchai set up "Yuchai Scholarship" and "Yan Ping Education Fund" in 2006 to reward staff children of fine qualities and scholarship and in financial difficulties enrolled by full-time key and ordinary universities in the country. Awards range from RMB 4,000 to RMB 8,000. So far, a total of 109 staff children have been supported by Yan Ping Education Fund, and 400 have got Yuchai Scholarship, with a sum of over RMB 908,000.
