A school in Siyang County, China, is being rehabilitated with the help of an investment from the Caterpillar Foundation. The rehabilitation has reached 308 students so far, and with the completion of the project, more than 400 students will benefit from the school.
Caterpillar (China) Machinery Component Co., Ltd. (CCMC) sponsored the rebuilding project for the local school, Yangwei Primary School, to improve the learning environment. The construction was recently completed after lasting about seven months, and is providing classrooms for music, drawing and culture courses currently. Science classrooms will be built in 2014.
"Caterpillar's vision is helping today's work to develop tomorrow's world. There is no better way to build a better world for tomorrow than preparing our children to take over from us." said Gary Zoromski, general manager of Advanced Components & Systems Division China. "The rebuilding of this school will provide children with an excellent educational condition and most importantly step in building our future here. The investments we make for our children today will benefit many times over the course."
A remaining teaching classroom for computer science is still under construction and will be fully operational later this month.
Since establishment in 2005, CCMC is keeping focus to drive social responsibilities, which was widely recognized by the local community.
