CAFVMG Secretary General Yao Limin visits Yuchai

The deepen its understanding of enterprises, enhance mutual understanding and ensuring the smoothness of review and certification of branded products and quality-trustworthy enterprises in the industry, On August 29, a delegation of the China Association of Fishing Vessels, Machinery and Gear (CAFVMG), headed by Secretary General Yao Limin and Deputy Secretary General Qian Zhongmin, visited Yuchai. Wu Qiwei, general manager and Tan Guirong, assistant to general manager of Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM), and Tang Zuoxing, general manager of the Marine Power Department of YM warmly received and held talks with the delegation.

Founded in 1992, CAFVMG is a transregional and trans-industry national multidisciplinary nongovernmental social group consisting of enterprises and institutions engaged in the design, manufacture, use, distribution, research, teaching, technical popularization and quality inspection of fishing vessels, fishing machinery, fishing instruments and fishing gear including rope and net. Now it has over 340 members in all economic sectors. The association carried out two reviews of "branded products in the industry" and "quality-trustworthy enterprises" in 2003 and 2005, selecting 69 branded products in the industry and 16 quality-trustworthy enterprises.

In recent years, Yuchai has included the marine power sector in its development strategy, with its marine power products prevailing in the market due to high reliability, good economy, low fuel consumption, strong power and low noise. YM-manufactured marine diesel engines fall into 16 series, range from 30hp to 2,000hp in terms of power, and can meet the power demands of different ships from ocean-going fishing vessels to yachts. Besides, Yuchai has constantly launched new quality models by its tremendous R & D strength, with its market share increasing steadily. Companies including YM, Yuchai Marine Power Co., Ltd. and CSR Yuchai have released new marine power products in succession, and gained unanimous praise from customers. Fishing vessels powered by YC6T and YC6B engines, superior in quality, were listed among "China's top ten standardized fishing vessel models" unveiled by the State Register of Fishing Vessel this year.

Yuchai marine power products have won customer trust by their outstanding quality. Yuchai's rapid development in the marine power market has also drawn wide attention in the industry. Seven years later, CAFVMG has restarted the review and certification of branded products in the industry and quality-trustworthy enterprises. To find out whether Yuchai meets the requirements of declaring branded products in the industry and quality-trustworthy enterprises, the delegation headed to Yuchai for a field investigation into its R & D and production conditions. After visiting the R & D base and workshops, Yao said emotionally: "We have visited Yuchai to review and learn from Yuchai. Yuchai has done better than expected!"

At the seminar, Yuchai introduced its practice in quality control and the R & D, production and sale of Yuchai marine power products. In recent years, Yuchai has elevated marine power development to a strategic level, which will boost the development of Yuchai's marine power sector. Also, Yuchai has spared no efforts to build professional marine power R & D, manufacturing and sales forces, and established institutions including the marine power research institute and the marine power department. This year, despite the adverse impact of a sales fall of 20 percent in the marine power industry, the sales of Yuchai marine power products have grown by 70 percent.

Yuchai has accomplished precise management in the R & D and production of marine power products, had a solid foundation for R & D and production, and yielded bumper fruits, said Qian Zhongmin, deputy secretary general of CAFVMG. He was pleased to see Yuchai's development actualities, saying Yuchai has been professional in marine power R & D and manufacture.

Before the seminar, the delegation also visited the laboratory of Yuchai R & C Center, as well as the heavy engine processing workshop and the heavy engine assembling & commissioning workshop.
