Caterpillar Vice President and Chief Human Resources Office (CHRO) Kimberly Hauer was recently honored as a Top 10 Breakaway Leader at the Awards Gala Dinner during the 2012 Global HR Leadership Summit.
The Top 10 Breakaway Leaders Award celebrates world-class HR leaders who deliver value by engaging and developing the global workforce of tomorrow. Those honored are the top leaders in their field who are changing the face of HR and inspiring a legacy of excellence. Through ingenuity and dedication, these CHROs are setting their organizations up to become the next great innovators in talent development. An elite panel of judges made up of CHROs, retired CHROs, noted academics and HR thought leaders determined the 2012 Top 10 Breakaway Leaders.
"Breakaway leadership is a state of mind that constantly considers the opportunities to add superior value to the business, and it's such an honor to represent Caterpillar while receiving this award," said Hauer. "The evolution of the HR community into a team that provides Caterpillar a global, competitive advantage with business driven solutions makes me very proud."
In 2012 the HR team has looked beyond the workgroup goals, spending time critically looking at the way things traditionally have been done. The entire team has been charged with challenging each function's processes and outcomes, ultimately making courageous decisions based on what is best for the company.
Through a very thorough process of gathering the voice of our business partners, assessing competition, and choosing to drive the higher velocity, The global HR community aligned on three HR Must Wins for 2011-2012 and beyond. The breakaway solutions for Leadership Excellence, Integrated Talent Management, and Diversity and Inclusion are in place to accelerate the ability of HR to help lead the company in these critical areas.
