Doosan to unveil new excavators and loaders at bauma 2013

Doosan Construction Equipment will be showing a wide range of new excavators, wheel loaders, articulated dump trucks and attachments for the first time at Bauma 2013, the world’s largest construction equipment exhibition, taking place in Munich in Germany from 15-21 April 2013. Among the new products on the stand are the DX140W-3 and DX160W-3 wheeled excavators, the DX380LC-3 large crawler excavator and the DL200-3, DL250-3 and DL550-3 wheel loaders.

Going well beyond meeting the latest emission requirements, all new Doosan Stage IIIB compliant excavators, wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks have been designed to exceed customer requirements for quality, productivity, controllability, comfort, reliability and durability, with greatly reduced overall costs and optimal fuel efficiency.

The new DX140W-3 and DX160W-3 excavators are both powered by the reliable Doosan DL06KB 6-cylinder ‘common rail’ turbocharged diesel engine providing a 2% increase in power to 102 kW (137 HP) at 2000 rpm and a 12% increase in engine torque. The new DX380LC-3 excavator is powered by the larger Doosan DL08K diesel engine delivering an 8% increase in torque and 5% more power [213 kW (286 HP)] at a lower (6% less) RPM of 1800. In all three models, the engines meet Stage IIIB engine emission regulations through the use of EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) after-treatment technologies.

Significantly higher performance

The new wheeled excavators offer a substantial boost in performance compared to the previous generation machines:

•Main pump flow has increased by 8% and system pressure has risen to 350-370 kg/cm2
•Bucket forces increased by 16% and arm forces by 6-16%
•Lifting capacities increased from 3-12% over the front of the excavators
•A 10% increase in traction force
•Up to 9% reduction in fuel consumption
•In-cab noise levels reduced by 5 dBA

Similarly, the new DX380LC-3 large crawler excavator offers outstanding performance levels and exceptional fuel efficiency compared to other machines in the 34 to 42 tonne market segment. A new joggle/shuttle control is a worldwide exclusive feature on new generation Doosan excavators. Other highlights include:

•Up to 22% increase in productivity (m3) to fuel consumption (l) ratio
•23% more pump flow
•40 tonne plus class size undercarriage for optimum stability
•A 15% increase in drawbar pull
•A 15% increase in front lifting capacity
As well as offering more standard features than other excavators of its size on the market, there is a greatly expanded choice of options for the DX380LC-3, including a new narrow (3 m) undercarriage which will be shown at Bauma and a new two-mode floating boom system.

With bucket capacities of 2.0, 2.5 and 5.4 m3, respectively, the new DL200-3, DL250-3 and DL550-3 wheel loaders are intended to meet a wide range of material-handling needs from loading and transporting granular material to industrial, mining and quarrying applications. These new generation models combine high engine power with a number of new features to minimise fuel consumption and provide better operator comfort, exceptional performance, ease of handling, easier serviceability and extended durability.

Lower fuel consumption

The new DL200-3 and DL250-3 wheel loaders are both powered by the Doosan DL06K ‘common rail’ 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine meeting Stage IIIB engine emission regulations through the use of EGR and DPF after-treatment technologies. The top-of-the-range DL550-3 wheel loader is powered by the 13-litre Scania DC13 SCR 6-cylinder diesel engine delivering ‘best in class’ power and engine torque, with a maximum power output of 283 kW at 1800 rpm and using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology to meet the requirements of the Stage IIIB regulations.

The high engine power outputs are combined with new ZF transmissions and several other features to minimise fuel consumption. There are three working modes - ECO, NORMAL and POWER – ensuring optimum fuel consumption for different applications. With the ‘Power-Up’ function, the operator can manually adjust to the next highest working mode by applying a full stroke of the accelerator pedal. With this feature, the operator can travel in NORMAL mode and switch to POWER mode when it is needed, such as when taking material from a pile. The ECO bar provides information about fuel consumption in relation to machine performance in real-time, allowing the operator to select the driving mode for the best fuel efficiency.

High Operator Comfort

The new cab design on the Doosan wheel loaders features improvements both outside – such as better visibility due to a wider front glass section and an extended wiper blade area, better protection thanks to larger mud guards, improved hand rail and step designs and a new roof cover - as well as inside – such as the new instrument panel with integrated vehicle control unit (VCU). The control panel has been redesigned to allow the operator to choose the information they want on the display. Using the Main Menu, the operator has easy access to several functions and machine information.
