Yan Ping ranks among "2011 Green China Figures"

On April 22, the "Green China Travel--Beijing & Award Ceremony for 2011 Green China Figures", a large public welfare event organized by the National Afforestation Committee, State Forestry Administration (SFA), China Green Foundation and China Ecological Civilization Research and Promotion Association, and jointly undertaken by people.com.cn, the Communication Office of SFA, the Economic Development Research Center of SFA and Green China magazine, was held in Beijing. As a result, Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group, ranked among "2011 Green China Figures". 

The event was aimed to positively implement the scientific outlook on development, promote the sustainable development of the economy and society, carry forward the ecological concept, establish green models and construct ecological civilization to build green China. Five editions of the event have been held. An array of influential "Green China Figures" including Jiang Chunyun, Meng Jianzhu, Zhao Nanqi, Guo Shengkun, Jia Zhibang, Hu Deping, Zhao Xuemin, Li Yining, Wen Tiejun, Zhang Yimou, Tang Guoqiang, Yang Lan, Zhou Xun and Li Bingbing were awarded in the previous four editions, drawing extensive attention and winning high praise from all walks of life. 　

Yan came up with Yuchai's core concept of "Green Development & Harmony Win-win" from the level of corporate sustainability and human health, vigorously advocated the concept of "green manufacturing", kept to the road of green industrial development, and pressed ahead with the R & D and manufacturing of green power. In recent years, Yuchai has developed energy-conserving, low-carbon and high-efficiency engine series including National III, IV and V low-emission diesel engines, city bus (ISG) hybrid engines and renewable pneumatic hybrid engines. In 2011, China's first Euro VI diesel engine was born in Yuchai. Yuchai was the only domestic engine manufacturer that had won the bid for National IV engines for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, which broke the monopoly of foreign brands and provided China's green power to the green Beijing Olympics. Currently, Yuchai is the exclusive National V engine supplier for Beijing's buses. Yuchai has set a good example in promoting the development of China's green industry, become the "Pioneer of China's Green Power" and been reputed as the "Chinese Capital of Green Power". Yan's outstanding contributions have been fully acknowledged by the event's expert judges and been highly recognized by netizens. 　

The event lasted a year from April 22, 2011. After public recommendation and online voting by more than 200 million netizens and evaluation by the expert panel, the list of winners were eventually unveiled. Xu Jialu, vice chairman of the standing committees of the 9th and 10th national people's congresses and Luo Baoming, secretary of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee won the grand award. Among the nine "Green China Figures" were Lu Ziyue, secretary of the CPC Lishui Municipal Committee; Guan Fengjun, director of the Department of Geological Environment of the Ministry of Land and Resources; Dang Xiaoyong, director of the Forestry Department of Qinghai Province; Jiang Xiaoting, director of the Department of Environmental Protection of Sichuan Province and Zhang Liangying, most popular female singer of Global Chinese Music Awards. 

The event has played a great role in encouraging the public to take active part in building a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society, transforming the mode of economic development and accomplishing the harmony of man and nature.
