Yuchai holds conference in celebration of Party's 90th anniversary

On the morning of July 1, Yuchai Culture Center was packed, solemn and warm, where the Party Committee of Yuchai Group held the conference in celebration of the Party's 90th anniversary. All attendees, in high spirits, with great passion, commemorated the Party's 90 years of brilliant history and sought for a successful road of building a Yuchai with annual sales of RMB 100 billion in the twelfth five-year period.

At the conference, Yan Ping, Party secretary of Yuchai Group, made a keynote speech on Making Great Efforts in Strategic Reserves, Consolidating the Development Foundation and Reporting to the Party with Brilliant Performance. In the speech, Yan reviewed the Party's 90 years of brilliant history and Yuchai's 60 years of construction, and systematically summarized the work of the corporate Party committee in 2010 from such aspects as service operation, Party building, talent training, cultural development and livelihood building; came up with four aspects that should be emphasized in order to achieve the strategic objective in the twelfth five-year period; stressed the work of cadre team building and Party building of the corporate Party committee, and pinned hope on all Party members, cadres and staff of Yuchai.

Yan delivers a speech

The Party has grown for nine decades since founding, said Yan. The nine decades is just like a magnificent historical scroll, under the Party's leadership, we went through the stages of revolution, construction, and reform and opening up, and blazed a socialist road with Chinese characteristics to lay the solid political and economic foundation for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation; in the meantime, the Party has shown great vitality, strong cohesion and remarkable creativity. This year coincides with Yuchai's 60th anniversary. Over the six decades, Yuchai has evolved from an unknown small plant into one of China's largest internal combustion engine manufacturing bases and small & medium-sized excavator manufacturing and exporting bases, and is growing constantly with New China.

In 2010, under the leadership of the corporate Party committee, grass-roots Party-mass organizations at all levels and Party members centered on the political work concept of "integration, coordination, support and service", made great efforts on Party building and political work, gave full play to the role of political core and the exemplary role of Party members, and made remarkable achievements in such aspects as ideological and political work, Party building innovation, culture publicity, disciplinary inspection and supervision, and spiritual civilization building, thus making due contributions to Yuchai's production and business operation.

With focus on production and business operation, the corporate Party committee made great efforts in service support. In 2010, Yuchai wrapped up the "eleventh five-year period" with annual sales revenues of RMB 37 billion, creating another two Yuchai within five years compared to RMB 12.1 billion in 2005, and achieving fast growth and leapfrog development in the first decade of the new century. Now, Yuchai has enhanced the corporate structure progressively and increased business benefit steadily, and has grown more and more healthily, thus opening a new chapter for Yuchai's development. In the first five months of this year, Yuchai achieved sales revenues of RMB 17.693 billion, up 4.22% year on year, including RMB 1.967 billion, RMB 3.776 billion and RMB 1.598 billion from the sector of construction machinery, the sector of lubricant chemical, and the sector of parts and other sectors, up 43.19%, 52.2% and 3.06% year on year respectively.

The corporate Party committee has also achieved remarkable effects in such aspects as Party building, talent training and corporate culture development. Over the past year, the committee has kept strengthening the ideology, organization and style building of the Party organization and Party members, actively advanced the construction of the system of corruption punishment and prevention, and given play to the political core role of the Party organization and the exemplary role of Party members; has made great efforts in the construction of the system of cadre selection and appointment, established the back-up cadre talent bank, and kept increasing cadres' ideological and political quality and capability of modern business management; has actively cultivated R & D teams, implemented the strategy of strengthening the enterprise through talents, advanced the work of sci-tech talent training, and boosted the quality and capability of sci-tech talent teams; has made great efforts in skill team training, boosted the quality of skill talent teams and fully aroused the enthusiasm of the teams; has kept innovating and strengthening publicity work, systematically advanced corporate culture development, made vigorous efforts in brand communication and corporate image promotion, given play to the role of the corporate culture in orienting, pooling and motivating, promoted the advanced, enhanced morale, strengthened team cohesion and increased corporate soft strength to create a favorable environment for corporate development; has continuously carried out activities such as needy staff subsidization, major disease relief for staff, educational aid for staff's children, physical inspection for staff and staff communion to care about staff affectionately. The company has won honors such as "autonomous region model state-owned enterprise in excellence campaign" and "autonomous region advanced state-owned enterprise in excellence campaign", and the first workshop of the foundry has been ranked among advanced Party organizations of the autonomous region.

Yan noted building a Yuchai with annual sales of RMB 100 billion is the objective of Yuchai in the "twelfth five-year period", we must, from a strategic perspective, enhance concepts and quality, transform systems and mechanisms, and reserve resources. According to the actualities of the group, resources have basically been exhausted, whether the building of hardware such as talents, land and products, or the building of software such as culture, brand and management, as well as the building of corresponding operation and control capabilities, financing platforms and information networks need to be strengthened urgently, the group's system and mechanism restraint has become the biggest bottleneck against corporate development, and the group's medium and long-term development is bound to be restricted without deep reform and breakthrough. Some subsidiaries have prominent existing problems, such as lagging concepts, poor predictability and risk resistance, and low degree of system construction, all of which reflect the weakness in the development foundation. Therefore, we must focus on further strengthening the building of talent teams and talent reserves; further intensifying technical innovation and quality upgrading and making great efforts in product reserves to create a wider space for corporate liftoff; further improving the cultural power of enterprises and cultivating the group's competitive edge; and further accelerating the group's process of brand building to build a world-famous brand.

Yan stressed, as strengthening cadre team building, changing cadres' style, innovating corporate Party building, leading staff in taking part in the excellence campaign and escorting corporate development is the most important responsibility of the corporate Party committee in the new period, the committee should renew efforts to build a high-caliber cadre team, to thoroughly carry out the excellence campaign, to innovate the system of political work management and increase the level of political work, to thoroughly carry out anti-corruption construction, and to strengthen livelihood construction and care about staff. Cadre is critical to Yuchai's business success, said Yan. The group's "twelfth five-year" development calls for a number of high-caliber literate, knowledgeable, capable, steady and professional management cadres that know management and business operation and have good work ethics and humanistic culture. However, our current cadre team has a lot of problems, such as weakness in teamwork, passion fading, complacence and conservativeness, shirking responsibility, cockiness, shortsightedness, seeking private gains at public expense, flightiness, selfish departmentalism and narrow mind. Hopefully, management cadres at all levels will, with the attitude of correcting mistakes if you have made any and guarding against them if you have not, intensify learning, increase culture and strengthen the sense of responsibility and entrepreneurship, carry forward Yuchai's team spirit, be good at bringing others' advantages into play, pool collective wisdom and efforts to plan the future of the enterprise, and regard Yuchai's business as a lofty cause and personal pursuit to sublime personal life value.

At last, Yan called on staff to face up to the severe market situation at present, take positive and effective measures to dissolve crises with the sense of urgency, further temper quality, including outstanding product, team, management, business and service quality, to increase Yuchai's level of business management, fight toughly, take on responsibility, forge ahead and make innovation with positive and high-spirited morale and the will to win, in a bid to achieve Yuchai's annual objective and development objective in the "twelfth five-year period".

At the conference, the oath-taking ceremony for admission of new Party members was held, 110 new Party members took a solemn oath before the Party flag.

Also, the conference commended advanced grass-roots Party organizations, model Party members, outstanding Party workers, advanced collectives and ten outstanding young workers in 2010, Li Tiansheng and Guo Deming, deputy Party secretaries of Yuchai Group, read out the decisions to commend advanced Party and League collectives and individuals respectively.
