Release ceremony & seminar for China Power held in Yuchai

China Power, coauthored by famous Chinese author Xu Gang and outstanding young author Yao Yongbiao, has been published by Writers Publishing House (WPH). On August 12, the release ceremony and seminar on China Power were held at Yuchai Power Building.

 Zhou Ming, executive vice chairman and Li Bingyin, vice chairman of China Reportage Association (CRA); He Xilai, senior researcher of the Literature Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Wang Xia, editorial director of WPH; as well as 32 workers and critics including Yao Yongbiao, coauthor of China Power; Huang Dechang, vice chairman of Guangxi Literature Federation (GLF) and famous writer Lin Wanli attended the ceremony and seminar.

Yao shares his creation experience 

To write the book, Xu and Yao spent three years on preparations, interviewing and writing. At the release ceremony, Yao introduced the processes of creation. He summarized and refined the four major processes of interviewing and creation: "from a composition with an assigned topic to a work involving great concentration", "from shock to touching", "from approach to integration" and "seeing the hope of a nation from an enterprise". Speaking of the process of "from a composition with an assigned topic to work involving great concentration", Yao said excitedly, this change arose after he had come to Yuchai and experienced the cultural atmosphere jointly created by 20,000 employees of Yuchai. "This is a touching and convincing enterprise with a host of people whose charisma will touch you." Yao's experience offered writers present an insight into the "work involving great concentration", making them emotional at the ensuing seminar.

At the release ceremony, Zhou and Huang, on behalf of CRA and GLF respectively, extended warm congratulations on the release of China Power, singing high praise for Yuchai's growth and the book. The long reportage has provided a good reader for comprehending and feeling Yuchai's history and reality, said Zhou. It is admiring that Yuchai has been persistently focusing on building a national industrial band and has made brilliant achievements, and the authors of China Power have set a good example to Guangxi's writers, said Huang. Wang, on behalf of WPH, introduced the publication of China Power.

Following the release ceremony, Li presided over the seminar on China Power. Attending writers and critics commented on and appreciated the documentary, ideological and artistic properties of China Power. 

All attendees considered the book to be grand, sentimental and thoughtful. The authors completely replaced the novel style of traditional reportage with the openness of essays and the preciseness of papers. Massive narrative writing fluidly narrates history and reality by changing persons frequently to present a convincing and powerful reportage work. The book is not only a high summarization of Yuchai's development over the past six decades, but also an important sign of soft strength of the contemporary corporate culture of Yuchai.

According to He, the enterprise is a life, the writers started from the life instead of stressing individuals to successfully shape vivid images of a host of people. Yan is an insightful entrepreneur, whose soul was enlivened by the writers from multiple perspectives. The writers valued the enterprise as a life and became part of the life. They displayed the soul of 20,000 employees of Yuchai as well as their own. Besides, the book title embodies the great mind and wisdom of Yuchai by portraying its image in a national manner. 

According to Li, it is an era of reportage, in which writers should not only pay attention to their emotions and sentiments, but also pay attention to and better affect the society. Hopefully, more people will take up reportage creation. China Power is solid and all-inclusive, whose writers went deep into a humanistic and thoughtful great environment. As reportage, it is brilliant, to which the Chinese reportage world will pay great attention.

According to writer Peng Xiong, everything in the world is inseparable from three levels: "Skill", "Reason" and "Tao", the book has sublimated to the level of "Tao". "I like this book very much."

The release ceremony and seminar for China Power were jointly presented by WPH. At the release ceremony, Vice Chairman Li delivered a welcoming address, President Gu and Deputy Party Secretary Zhang presented the new book to Yulin Archives Bureau and Yulin Library respectively. Guo Deming, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Yuchai Group, presided over the ceremony, with the participation of over 100 worker representatives of Yuchai. 

Following the seminar, inspired by Yuchai's profound corporate culture and vigorous life, the writers will collect writing materials at Yuchai to express their fervent feelings with pens, and will condense their works into another legend of Yuchai, Essays of Yuchai.
