On August 12, Peng Xiong, reviewer of General Guangxi Press and famous cultural scholar, was invited to Yuchai for a lecture on modern humanistic literacy deposits themed "Reading a Lot, Traveling a Lot". Peng expounded on the difference of cultural literacy between China and the West, the core of humanism and other aspects. According to him, in the long run, an enterprise will not grow without a rich atmosphere of learning and reading. Yuchai attaches great importance to corporate culture building, and the just-concluded release ceremony for China Power exactly reflects the highest realm of the core of humanism--realm of Tao.

Peng considered reading as the best approach to broaden vision and develop a sense of humor. A reader should attach great importance to the difference between humanistic reading and utilitarian reading, overcome impatience, manage happy reading, and read thoughtful, artistic and eternal works; should consciously train his memory and imagination, thus achieving the goal of innovation improvement. Peng's profound knowledge, retentive memory and humorous words conquered the audience, arousing bursts of applause.

Based on his personal experience, Peng shared his opinions on humanistic literacy: one should improve himself constantly, should not live in indolence and should stay young mentally. At last, he encouraged everyone to persist in reading to improve their cultural literacy by citing the story that Socrates required his students to swing their arms every day.

Peng, a famous Chinese writer, successively worked as president of Lijiang Press, chief editor and reviewer of Guangxi People's Press, and chief of the Book Division of the Guangxi Bureau of Press and Publication. His representative works include Aspiration for Harmony--Essays of Peng Xiong, as well as essay collections Those People in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and These People in the Heroes of the Marshes, and his workers have been included in multiple editions of "Annual Essays of China". His lecture themed "Reading a Lot, Traveling a Lot" has caused great sensations in colleges and universities in Guangxi and cultural departments in all areas.
