Sports meet marking Yuchai's 60th anniversary opens

After six decades of pioneering, proud constructors of Yuchai got together again. On the morning of September 29, the opening ceremony of sports meet and the great aerobics show marking Yuchai's 60th anniversary were held at Yuchai Donghua Stadium. Yan Ping, chairman of Yuchai Group, attended the ceremony and announced the opening of the sports meet. Lu Daodong, secretary of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of Yulin Federation of Trade Unions and Bao Feng, deputy director-general of Yulin Sports Bureau, were present.

On the morning of September 29, Donghua Stadium was brimming with laugher, and athletes and workers were excitedly awaiting the opening of the sports meet.

At around 8 a.m., in the impassioned Sportsmen March, eight young workers marched in step with the national flag of the People's Republic of China and the plate featuring Yuchai's 60th anniversary, followed by the red banner team, the flower team and delegations of all units under Yuchai, receiving warm welcome from spectators. When passing the rostrum, many delegations shouted slogans, displaying their good teamwork spirit. 　

A flag raising ceremony came after the march-in ceremony. In the majestic national anthem, the bright five-star red flag rose slowly and swayed in the wind. Subsequently, the banners of Yuchai Group and Yuchai Machinery Co., Ltd. (YM) were also raised and flew over the stadium. 

Lu delivered an address, extending warm congratulations to Yuchai, sending cordial greetings to all athletes, referees and work staff, and paying highest tributes to all the constructors of Yuchai that have participated in and supported the cultural and sports cause. He hoped Yuchai will take this opportunity to inspire workers, boost solidarity, look into the future and move forward, integrate the sportsmanship of "Citius, Altius, Fortius" into daily work, to contribute passion and vitality to the accomplishment of the business goal for 2011 and make unremitting efforts to build Yuchai into a 100-billion "aircraft carrier" in the "twelfth five-year" period. 　

Wu Qiwei, member of the board of directors of Yuchai and general manager of YM, delivered a speech. He said, today we hold a sports meet here to warmly celebrate Yuchai's 60th anniversary, to further rouse workers' enthusiasm about regularly participating in the nationwide fitness campaign and passion for fighting in solidarity, competing bravely and transcending themselves, to boost staff's confidence and determination to build a "100-billion Yuchai", and to comprehensively strengthen staff's sense of competition, team spirit and perseverance, in an concerted effort to achieve business success and overtake top opponents, achieve the group's business objective of RMB 40 billion for this year, and move on towards the new success of building a 100-billion group. 　

The athlete representative and the referee representative took oaths.  

At 8:40 a.m., Yan announced in a resonant voice: I announce the opening of the sports meet marking Yuchai's 60th anniversary. All of a sudden, the stadium burst into cheer and red banners waved, turning the stadium into a sea of joy. 　

Following the opening ceremony, a spectacular aerobics show was staged. A total of 2,500 workers from 21 delegations performed in the show, giving full rein to their demeanor, passion, vitality and confidence, arousing bursts of applause and cheer from spectators.  

The sports meet, scheduled to wrap up in October, involves events such as balloon volleyball, badminton, swimming, athletics, aerobics show and basketball. 　

In the aerobics show, Machining Plant, Monopoly Company and Engine Plant 2 won the special prize, seven delegations including Yuchai Heavy Industry Company Limited, Yuchai Foundry and Engine Plant won the first prize, and 11 delegations including Parts Company won the second prize. The corporate leaders presented awards to these prizewinning units and those winners of team events in athletics competition several days ago.
